On 15 and 16 March 2023, the IMPACT project successfully held its fifth project meeting in Cork, Ireland.

The meeting also marked the second in-person project meeting, and the first time that the project members had gathered together since the joint IMPACT-VALID side event at ICOE-OEE in October 2022. As such, the meeting focused on catching up on what had been done in the past five months as well as plans for the future.

The New Testing Methodologies & Metrics work package (WP5) was formally concluded with results presented by Miguel Rodrigues (SINTEF Ocean) and Mairead Atcheson-Cruz (Y4C). Discussions then focused on the remaining work packages: DHIL Testing Platform Development (WP6), presented by Giacomo Alessandri (VGA), and Integration of Novel Test Rigs & Methodologies (WP7), presented by Joao Cruz (Y4C).

Paula Garcia Rosa (SINTEF Energy Research) also formally announced that she would be taking over from Hans Christian Bolstad (SINTEF Energy Research) in leading the Project Results Exploitation and Dissemination work package (WP8). We would like to thank Hans Christian for all his hard work, and wish him the best in his future projects!

The meeting was hosted by IMPACT partner, MaREI

The meeting was hosted by MaREI, the SFI Research Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine research and innovation co-ordinated by the Environmental Research Institute (ERI) at University College Cork (UCC).

UCC have taken a leading role in the Techno-Economic & Environmental Impact Evaluation work package (WP4), which examines the impact of techno-economics and the environment on wave energy design and tests.

“It was so nice to see the IMPACT team in person in UCC,” said Mitra Kamidelivand, a postdoctoral researcher at UCC. “The meeting’s presentations and discussion were great.”
