Next-Generation Wave Energy Testing

IMPACT: Next-generation testing approach for Wave Energy Converters

IMPACT is a collaborative research and innovation project which aims to develop and demonstrate a next-generation testing approach for Wave Energy Converters (WECs).

The proposed 250kW Dual Hardware-In-the-Loop (DHIL) testing platform is based on a technology which expands the capabilities of the already established Hardware-In-the-Loop technique.

IMPACT features five project partners from four European countries. The project is coordinated by VGA, Srl (Italy), with the following project partners: Yavin Four Consultants (Portugal), SINTEF Energy Research (Norway), SINTEF Ocean (Norway) and University College Cork (Ireland).

Testing Wave Energy Converters (WEC) using Dual Hardware-in-the-Loop (DHIL)

The IMPACT project aims to develop and demonstrate a new testing approach for WECs called “dual hardware-in-the-loop” (DHIL).

“Wave Energy Rig Testing Workshop: Bridging the Gap between Research and Deployment

This workshop will showcase how rig testing can contribute to accelerating the development of the European wave energy sector, and feature presentations from international and Italian experts from both academia and industry.
